The story follows Dr. Nora Davis, a successful surgeon who is haunted by her past. When Nora was a child, her father was convicted of being a serial killer. Now, years later, Nora’s past comes back to haunt her when one of her patients is murdered in a way that is eerily similar to her father’s crimes.McFadden does a masterful job of building suspense and creating a sense of dread in the reader. The story is told from both Nora’s present-day perspective and the perspective of her younger self, which allows the reader to get a better understanding of Nora’s trauma and the secrets that she is keeping. The characters are complex and well-developed, and the plot is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end.One of the things that makes The Locked Door so effective is its realistic portrayal of trauma. Nora is deeply affected by her father’s crimes, and she struggles to cope with her past. McFadden does a great job of capturing Nora’s emotions and her inner turmoil.Another thing that I enjoyed about The Locked Door is its suspenseful plot. The mystery of who is killing Nora’s patients is well-crafted, and there are plenty of red herrings to keep the reader guessing. McFadden also does a great job of building up to the climax of the novel, which is both thrilling and satisfying.Overall, The Locked Door is an excellent psychological thriller that is sure to please fans of the genre. It is a fast-paced, suspenseful read with complex characters and a well-crafted plot. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a thrilling and well-written read. Here is a more detailed look at some of the things that I liked and disliked about the book:Things I liked:* The realistic portrayal of trauma.* The suspenseful plot.* The complex and well-developed characters.* The well-crafted mystery.* The thrilling and satisfying climax.Things I disliked:* Some of the pacing could have been tighter.* There were a few subplots that felt underdeveloped.* The ending was a bit abrupt.Overall, I think that The Locked Door is a great psychological thriller. But eventually, she was forced to admit it when a detective knocked on her door. Unfortunately, her female patients were horrifiedly killed in the same way as 26 years before.Despite hiding her identity, what makes Nora the prime suspect? Does someone out there know her true self? This book is a psychological thriller. The author has narrated in a dual timeline, which skillfully intervenes in the past and the present. Nora’s character and the other side characters were brilliantly portrayed. A fantastic whodunit plot with unexpected twists and turns. The ending was jaw-dropping and mind-boggling. It was gripping and fast-paced.Overall, it was a suspense-packed read. The character development isn’t focused upon too much, so if you are into books in which story is developed more than the characters this book is one for you. I guess this thriller won my heart because of the fact that I wasn’t able to guess the real culprit, guess the author did a great job in pointing all the reader’s suspicion towards one other character which keeps us thinking that yeah this one is the killer while we kept on ignoring the real culprit who seemed innocent throughout this book.If you are up for an interesting thriller that’s not too big nor too small and keeps you engrossed, this book is for you.|The locked door is absolutely one of the best psychological thriller written by masterpiece author Freida McFadden. The plot is written in dual timelines which revolves past and present to reveal backstory of protagonist and her family. And I am really impressed how she maintains balance between elements of suspense, mystery, humour and family history. And I am not gonna lie that ending gives me goosebump meaning unexpected twist that I didn’t see that coming. Now it’s one of my fav novels by Freida Mcfadden. I highly recommend this book to thriller and mystery lovers.|This is very typical of Frieda stories:-Psycopath-Past history-Suspense as to who is killing-Unexpected character becoming the mastermindEasy to read and gripping till the end. Good fast read with a good twist!!|I stayed up reading this book all night just to find out who did it. I could not put it down.
